Attachable Sources of Income

 

Virtually every state in the union provides for the garnishment of income of parents who refuse to pay child support. Below is a listing of some of the sources of income that the states allow to be garnished.

f.         Missouri DCSE also has statutory authority to place administrative liens against real property, certain registered personal property, and obligor’s share of an estate and compensation derived from certain types of lawsuits.

g.       Nebraska child support orders are judgments.

h.       New Jersey also allows for attachment of rent, inheritance, insurance benefits, retirement benefits, union benefits and civil suit settlements or judgments.

i.         In Oregon, child support orders are judgments automatically by law.

j.         In Utah, support orders are treated as judgments.
